Contenuti del corso "Creative Writing": The course will focus on the fundamentals of creative writing. Beginning with the key elements of a great story, the class will then explore the topics of character development, plot development, dialogue, exposition, point of view, theme and motif, pace, voice, and suspense. The course will feature in-class workshops for brainstorming ideas for characters, plots and themes while also giving students time to work on their writing skills. During the course, students will be asked to develop, write and present parts of a short story, a prologue or a first chapter (their choice). Class time will be used to analyze and critique student submissions. This writing process will culminate in a final submission at the end of the course.

Contenuti del corso "Lingua inglese: Linguaggio specialistico economico finanziario": questo corso esaminerà la terminologia e la grammatica relative al mondo aziendale, all’economia internazionale, alla finanza e alle banche. Appropriato per quegli studenti che hanno già acquisito un livello di inglese pari almeno a B1.

Contenuti del corso "Arguing and Discussing in English": The course offers theoretical and practical insight into the nature of argumentation - both eristic (concerned with winning) and dialectic (arriving at a mutually-satisfying compromise). Aristotelian rhetoric and the Toulmin method will be explored as eristic approaches, while the Rogerian method will be studied as a dialectic tool to negotiate a shared outcome. It then builds upon this theoretical foundation to introduce the students to the practical work of leveraging critical thinking to construct and present arguments on topical questions of fact, value, and policy, using the three methods in question.
Classes will blend theory with writing workshops, presentations and debates. Submission of a final piece of writing is required to pass the course.

Contenuti del corso "English for International Relations and Public Communication": This course examines the register and communicative strategies of English used in diplomatic, institutional and public communication contexts, with particular attention to audience segmentation, framing, and crisis communication. Students will explore key linguistic devices such as hedging, euphemism, strategic ambiguity and calibrated formality, drawing on authentic materials including diplomatic statements, institutional press releases, and speeches delivered in international fora. Class time will blend theory with in-class workshops, in which students will analyse authentic texts and produce their own institutional and public communication materials. The course will culminate in a final submission in which students select and critically analyse a real speech or instance of public communication.
