Linguistic Tandem

The Centro Linguistico di Ateneo (CLA = University Language Centre) has started a language exchange project called Tandem. It is addressed to students enrolled at the University of Macerata and Accademia di Belle Arti di Macerata, including those within the context of Erasmus mobility and/or international agreements.

Our Tandem Project is language-focused and consists in face-to-face conversations aimed at intensifying language exchanges, strengthening contacts, cultural exchange and fostering the multilingual and multicultural community ethos of our University.

Students wishing to enroll must fill in the relevant online form with the credentials used to access the studenti.unimc.it website (Accademia students will receive their credentials by email).

Participants in the Tandem Project shall meet for a minimum of 20 hours and write an individual Diary which documenting activities they have carried out. The Diary shall then be submitted to the CLA. At the end of the project, participants shall receive a certificate of attendance.

The first meeting is crucial for language exchange matching, while the last one involves submission of the individual diary of activities. Both meetings are arranged by the CLA and notice is given to participants in the project. The rest of the meetings are freely organized: students decide when and where they wish to meet, although public places are advisable. During meetings sharing equal time between the two languages is crucial.

Ensuring a tandem partner to all applicants is not always possible, because much depends on the number of students who join in. Those who are not allocated a partner may enroll in the project the following semester.

Enrollment of AY 2019/2020: Students who wish to join may fill in the online form starting next september 1st.

At the end of the project, participants shall be invited to provide a feed-back questionnaire for the sole purpose of collecting information  to improve the service.
