Section 5

Section 5, Level B1 → B2 (120 hours)

- general language (complex structures for communication);

- oral comprehension;

- reflection on the language and work on texts;

- contents of Italian culture;

- conversation and guided self-study activities;

- tests.

In this section, written comprehension skills relating to more complex texts and the drafting of more articulated texts are developed in particular, as well as oral production skills and interaction. At the end of the course, students will have to be able to:

- understand conversations of a certain length and conferences and follow more complex arguments as long as they are relating to familiar themes of interest.

- understand the majority of news programmes and TV programmes on current affairs and the majority of films with a standard language level.

- read articles and reports on current affairs issues, understanding the point of view of the author and distinguishing between various analysis perspectives; read and understand adapted specialised texts.

- understand a contemporary narrative and know how to work on the text in a more and more independent manner.

- interact effectively with native speakers, being capable of actively participating in discussions in informal contexts, expressing and sustaining opinions.

At the end of the section, the students will reach the B2 level, which corresponds to the CELI3 level of the University for foreigners of Perugia, which constitutes an entry requirement for accessing university courses, as it verifies the possession of reflection and study skills and not only communication skills in the chosen language, guaranteeing a correct disposition in the study of the chosen subjects.

At the end of the course, the University of Macerata will issue a certificate that states the level attained in the knowledge of Italian. The B2 level is normally accepted by the majority of Italian universities for access to various degree courses. In any case, the University of Macerata will make it possible to sustain the international certification exam, CELI, within its premises, the cost of which (approximately 100 euro) will be payable by those who enrol.
